Service Engine Light problems

Sounds like you may be having an issue with readiness monitors. They are parameters that are check either periodically or during every drive by the engines computers. Have you recently had a battery replaced or any repairs to the engine like sensors? Do you have any trouble codes?

As a side note, the bulb for the "Service Engine Soon" light could be burned out, and a problem could exist -- with the light not lighting up because of the bulb. In any case, as others have recommended, it's best to consult a local repair shop for guidance and testing.
