ANY oil mixed in the coolant is excessive, and indicates a problem exists. IF you are unsure of what type of 'oil' it is , I strongly recommend a tow truck , to a service center for proper diagnosis. One possibility is the trans cooler has failed (inside the radiator) and is allowing ATF to mix with coolant , putting both the engine and transmission at risk. The other possibility is blown headgasket or other internal engine failure. .....Orrrrrr somebody playing bad joke on you and put a tablespoon of olive oil in it , just to mess with you(doubt it).Either way , don't run it , you risk making it worse.
I initially thought it was done on purpose but I have flushed it a few times and it keeps doing it. What do I do? I know a little about cars but I'm not sure I can fix this on my own and can not afford to have it fixed. This is my only means of transportation. Should I take the car apart, soaking all hoses reservoir and radiator in hot soapy water then take apart manifold as far down to the gasket. Will I be able to tell if it is the gasket or if the head is cracked. Need advice. Please help
You need to be able to determine if it is trans fluid or motor oil first. That in itself will determine what the next step is. Have you checked/added either engine oil or ATF to it lately? Make sure you check fluid levels precisely as outlined i that vehicles owners manual.
