Car won't start changed fuel pump

Actually someone is selling it for $500 he said he changed the fuel pump bought it used ran for a couple days.also he changed the belt and gave up its been sitting for a year

Have you , or are you able to see it , before you buy it , or is the seller reluctant (or if you figure it out the price all of a sudden will jump to $2000.00)? Hard to even guess at what else it could also be without actually watching and seeing some symptoms. Compression?

Ya we seen it it turns over just won't start..should u be able to hear the gas pump kick on?

most times , yes , only briefly , while cranking though.Take fuel cap off and have someone 'bump' the key to energize , listen at filler neck . Also , if fuel rail is accesible and you can locate schrader valve for testing , if no gauge or adapter , get rags , pocket screwdriver , relieve pressure and then bump key and see if pressure returns (assuming it HAD pressure).
