Saturn Aura 2009 XE My parking brake used to set easily by just pushing down either a couple inchs or nearly all the way to the floor, someone moved my car after the parking brake was set(They assumingly released it beforehand) but after I went to move it back, the parking brake required me to push it all the way down to set it, opposed to it just going down a couple inchs and setting. Is it damaged or is it just something that is due to the cold weather (About -6C outside) thanks.
How long has your 2009 Saturn Aura had this problem?
Just happened

Hello, it's hard to really say without inspection. It's quite possible that it's now well out of adjustment. The parking brake cables actuate from the lever and move the rear brake disc pads to engage the discs. The pads may be worn down slightly or more, the brake rotors could also have heat damage. Have the rear brakes checked as soon as possible.
Your statement = “My parking brake used to set easily by just pushing down either a couple inchs or nearly all the way to the floor”.. I see no difference in operation now - explain please.
Before this, I could just push it down a little bit, it now requires to be pushed near to the floor. I've heard that fully extending it wasn't good for, but now if that is the only thing that works wouldn't that mean something isn't right with it. Just curious about it. Thank you for your reply
So does it mean anything if it still works; as in I can push it all the way down and it'll set and still work? Also does the cold have any effect on it, as in could it snap? Thank you for your reply
