replaced dead battery now the car starts then dies. Anti-theft?
What is your question?
sat over winter, got in w manual entry, popped hood, replaced battery, can enter with fob now but car starts then dies as if running out of fuel. Porsche wants me to tow to shop, not liking that idea. I've been told it may be anti-theft and keys and car will need to be "reprogrammed" How did this happen and can i next time remove ground cable to allow battery to not have any draw or will i have to "reprogram" again if that is actually what is wrong. thank you
RepairPal Certified shops can diagnose and repair your 2009 Porsche 911. They provide transparent pricing with a minimum 12-month or 12,000-mile warranty on repairs and services.
yes sir, battery section didn't discuss replacement or my scenario specifically but still looking. Does appear to be an electronic module issue but which one or how to reboot still eludes me. I have just got back from meeting the tow truck and i had disconnected the battery, i tried reconnecting the battery while the key was in the ignition but it didnt work (stay running). I disconnected the ground again (which seems like not the best idea from what I have been reading) when the tow truck showed up i needed to put the car in neutral so the ground cable went back on, as i fidgeted the key back into the ignition I put it back in then out then it fired up and remained running, so i dont really know what sequence if any fixed it. I'm also getting a check engine light on now which i did not have before but of course I have no code (something that needs reset most likely). Sure wish I'd bought a muscle car instead of a computer. Having to be "booted up" and endless power supplies wasn't on my wish list. thx :-)

Yeah , there's something to be said for old-fashioned points and carburetors! Good luck.
