Have a MECHANIC test the circuits to the rear HO2 sensor to find the cause that set code PO138!!!.. That would be at an Auto Repair Shop, not a "test facility"...!!!!!
Been to 5 ASE CERTIFIED garages all get same thing all wanna replace same parts again and again. Have heard possible needs computer reprogrammed at a gm dealership. Also heard there's a wire harness by gas petal under carpet that draws moisture and causes this? Car built 4/08. Oxygen sensor downstream uses a 2008 gm sensor. Sensor upstream uses a Toyota sensor both changed.
With the proper diagnostic flow chart and test equipment, this should not be a problem that a qualified mechanic cant resolve!!.. Some are more difficult than others but without texting it myself, hard to advise further...
It's a 4 wire sensor... With a DVOM and professional scanner, the harness can easily be tested for proper voltage and ground... Surely that isn't a problem for a 'mechanic'... Good luck with the fix! That ASE crap ain't worth a s--t if it can't be applied !!
Shouldn't be, but live in small area with greedy mechanics. Some I think buy there patches and worst is some make good ones look bad. Almost funny everything I've heard needs changed to fix problem if it wasn't so costly on parts. We have only one gm garage in area and I think there on there 4th owners and replaced mechanics each time for cheaper less exsperiaced ones. Sad
Well, that's a shame for sure!.. EVERYONE wants to start throwing parts on just because of a code, when it is just a guide to the actual system that's causing the problem that needs to be tested!! I wish I could be of more help but over the internet that's not possible! I don't know your skill level but go to YouTube and search for a vid showing this downstream O2 sensor being tested.. You can probably do it yourself!
Shocked! Not car returns there idea is its computer oh but offered to take in trade. Says car should be alot faster more power if so gonna make it a drag car what BS. The car runs drives does it all same as when new. You can get all 4 wheels spin in snow they claim it wouldn't.
