Using 50 weight oil in my 2003 pontiac sunfire coupe will it hurt my car

It’s not really going to hurt the engine - however it isn’t going to benefit from heavy weight oil either. WHY did you opt to use such a viscous oil? COLD weather is coming SOON and thick oils don’t do very well in COLD temperatures - plus the thicker oil will reduce fuel mileage..
