I have a 2004 Pontiac montana and it was acting like losing power then finally died after showing battery light for a few days so we replaced the alternator charged the battery checked the fuses and replaced any that were bad and it will crank over by not catch and start
How long has your 2004 Pontiac Montana had this problem?

Hello, it sounds to me that there is still perhaps a blown fuse somewhere in the system that is preventing the vehicle from starting. When there is cranking of the engine with no start, you would have to check for fuel pressure and ignition spark. Something is missing causing the lack of starting. A diagnostic tool monitoring various components is invaluable.
Considering the difficulty to replace the alternator due to it's positioning in that engine bay - suggest checking for damaged wiring behind the alternator - crankshaft position sensor wiring that's going up to the ignition control module is in that same vicinity. Kinda questioning why fuses needed to be replaced - unless the battery 'negative' cable wasn't disconnected prior to alternator replacement or a positive wire is now shorted to ground.. In any event - *hands-on* inspection / diagnosis will be required.
