If the pontiac grand am starts fine when the engine is cold, but doesn't after it has been run then the issue is most likely a defective fuel pump relay. OEM relay cost is around $20.00.
ck fuel pressure cold and also ck bleed off time. the fuel pressure should hold after car is shut off
I dont have a problem with fuel pressure-it wont even crank -starts fine when the engine turns over-I turn the key and there is nothing
More information is always better! Start at the battery. Check battery voltage after the car sits overnight with multimeter, engine off - 12.6 to 12.0 volts dc, with engine running - somewhere around 14.5 volts dc. have someone increase engine speed to 1500 - 2000 rpm and check voltage at that rpm. That test should tell you if your battery and charging system are working. Remove and clean your battery terminals, ground connectors, and battery cable, check for any damage to the battery post, battery cables, or battery case, then reinstall. If all that checks OK, The starter, ignition switch, and starting system need to be evaluated next. Post any results you find. Here is a web address for a test for the security system just in case this might be your problem!
