What is your question?
I am having an issue with my headlights not working during the day. The day lights do come on once the car is put into drive, reverse and neutral, but not in park. During the day the light switch will pretty much not work at all with the exception of the high beam "flash." The auto light switch, the manual lights, and the high beams are non functional during the day. At night the lights do come on and the high beams are functional. I have to get my car inspected next week and don't have a lot of extra cash so I am desperate at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

They are working as designed. These are fully automatic lights. The control knob at the end of the left stalk is not a manual headlamp switch. Those are overrides. Should you want to pull in without shining into a neighbors window (off), or sit in a parking lot (up 1) or use the headlamps to illuminate an area when the car is off and parked (up 2). The lights should not let you. In daylight, the lights will let you flash your high beams and use them as a signal, but not accidentally turn them on and not realize it until they burn up This is on nearly every car since the 90s. Nothing is wrong. An inspector would know this, if he doesn't, ask for one who has inspected more than a 1992 Saturn SL.
The only way the lights come on is when the auto lights kick on after dark. The light switch is not working, but the turn signals still do....would this mean I need to replace the light switch itself?
ok.if i remember correctly.about a year ago someone was having a similar problem with their car, different year, different make, but a gm car that took the same switch.i think the light switch is on the left side, and the wiper switch is on the right side.there were a lot of folks having the same problem.but gm did not recall it.they did however come out with an updated design, that you have to buy,of course!well now you have to buy 4 different parts to make it work correctly.total for all parts is little over $100.00 from parts place, more at dealer.do this and see what i am talking about.goto autozone.com.at top of page in the middle, click on my vehicles, then click on add vehicle, enter your info.then in the search bar,top left, type in headlight switch, when that comes up,click on it,then click on the switch picture, and read under product details, under NOTES.
