How come car cranks a couple times then stops

What is your question?

When I go to start my car it cranks once or twice then stops like it loses power. Tried it yesterday and starter started smoking and burnt up. Got a new one put it in and cranked it and it smelled like it was burning I was thinking the wiring but I’m not sure.

What makes this problem better or worse?

Moved relays around.

How long has your 2005 Pontiac G6 had this problem?
