When I put my key into the ignition to turn it over it'll start for a second and sputter like there isn't any gas but there's a full tank... Then when I try to turn it over again it won't turn over at all but has power to lights and radio.... The gages don't register at all

Hi. Hope my input helps. My wife has a 2002 Buick rendezvous which is almost identical in parts and problems. Last month her car did the exact same thing, exact. It turned out to be the fuel pump failing, start n die, start n die. After replacing fuel pump which is inside the tank the instrument cluster went haywire and only half worked. I found it to be the BCM (body control module) which controls most electric on the car. I found replacement from junk yard for $30 and works perfect. It does not need to be reprogrammed at dealer as long as it is for the year, engine size and make of vehicle. BCM is between the seats in console which has to be removed (not difficult)and directly under radio. It has 3 plugs. This would be the most cosy effective way to go with the problems you described since a fuel pump is $200 plus labor. I would put my money on faulty BCM.
I did that and still had the same response so I put my spare charged battery in and it still did the same thing
Possible ignition switch failure since some accessories aren working .. Hands-on testing required.
I will as soon as I get paid again bc I spent most of my check today on getting it diagnosed and the place I took it told me to go to a dealership
Well that's a shame.. A quality independent auto repair shop should be able to handle this problem! .. Furthermore, you shouldn't have been charged for an inconclusive diagnosis as that certainly did not help!
Yeah I know but that's what happens when a female tries to get her car fix we get taken advantage of...
Report this incident to the B.B.B. ! .... In any event > please don't start guessing at this problem as some may suggest .. That will only cost you more wasted money! .. Good luck!!!
Thank you very much
Keep in mind, none of the electronic control modules will prevent the starter from engaging and 'cranking' the engine over! .. You are welcome.
