I ran out of gas, after my gas gauge was slightly higher about you but it was the day before. I knew I was low but it looked like I had enough to go around the block to the next gas station. So I ran out of gas, and when I put a gallon and it didn't start, it was turning but it didn't actually fire, so I put a couple more gallons in and it still isn't starting. For some reason prior to this, I have had some trouble with starting it in the cold and it not wanting to stay above a certain Idol to stay on. So sometimes I would have to sit there and make sure that it would stay on long enough to keep an idol and then I could put my foot off the gas after sometime.also without my car having the keys or lights on every time I open my door the buildings like I've left my keys in. That started about two weeks ago. Not sure if it is related. I have put heat in the tank and carburetor cleaner/fuel injector cleaner it now has about 3 gallons wants to start definitely Rives but doesn't actually fully fire and turnover. Any suggestions?

Possible failed fuel pump.... Test fuel pressure, it may not have actually been out of gas to start with!
Check fuses , take fusebox off under engine turn over and see if those resistors r blown , rear side of fuse box
are you saying a fuse for the fuel pump could be blown or disconnected somehow?
Curious to what the problem actually was. I would've asked how the car was parked when out of it wouldn't start. These cars have no baffle in the tank, so if it was on a lean, the few gallons of fuel added would result in no result as the fuel would never reach the pump. If you still access this site, please let me (us) know what the problem turned out to be. (Apologies for late response but I've just found and registered to this site.)
How can I check the pressure? With a normal pressure gauge that I use for a tire, I saw the fuel line that runs to my engine and then to something that had a valve stem, looks like it is called the fuel pressure regulator, is that where I would check? Do you know the norm pressure it should be at?
You have her put a fuel pump in it yet because it is a 97, they call it a Schrader valve on the fuel injection line it looks like a tire valve have someone crank it and just hold it hold it open and it should spray outs , or Connect gauge there .or put a funnel in the tank and have someone turn it on you should have a two second prime ,
