my brother has a 2001 olds bravada, i think he put in too much trans., fluid.

I am not at his location, and he drained fluid from the plug in the transfer case on the all wheel drive. Trans., is slipping and not shifting correctly. he said the trans., fluid level was still high. my question is where does the transfer case get its fluid, does it feed from the auto transmission? no i am not a mechanic but only tinker with cars.
