have to disconnect battery to turn car off. key does not come out off ignition

Park interlock solenoid is not allowing key to be turned completely back to the OFF position - this is commonly caused by liquids such as soda, coffee etc being spilled into the shifter cavity over time. These liquids tend become somewhat viscous and stop the solenoid from operating properly.. Liberally spraying WD40 down into shifter cavity then working shifter back & forth will ‘some-times’ clean the mechanism and allow it to function once again. Good luck!
