your nipples are could be plugged/collapsed at that vacuum connector underneath the dash.or you have a vaccum leak under the hood,check all vaccum lines,tees,line going thru firewall.when you have vaccum leaks,the defrost mode is the default mode when loss of vaccum.$3.00 fix.
