My car will jump when I'm come to a complete stop with my left signal light on.

I've been having this problem for almost 2 years. This problem has my check engine light is on and stays on because of this problem.
As I come to a complete stop with my left signal on, the drive (or d) icon disappears as I'm stopping. Once I stop, my car jumps. It only does this when I put on my left signal light. It doesn't do it with my right. It also happens when I have my lights on at night. It happens with both the left and right signal light.'
Nobody knows what the trouble is. One person says transmission. Another person said it has something to do with my tail light. Can you help figure out what this problem is before it gets worse?
