What is your question?
It might be a dumb question, but I want to triple check. My A/C Compressor failed not too long ago (6 months) and I have finally decided to replace it with a new compressor. Question is if I need to replace the receiver/drier as well. Normally, I would have to according to many online forums. However, the mechanic I took it to (very reputable, over 400 reviews) said that normally he would suggest doing it. However, since the compressor failed electrically (magnetic clutch/coil fails), he assumes there shouldn't be any debris. Do I need to replace the receiver/drier?

Yes you do need to replace the filter/drier and expansion valve!.. The clutch may have failed due TO debris in the system that locked the compressor up and slipped the clutch!!.. Plus it's the only way to comply with the new compressors warranty, if you'll read the warranty statement with the compressor... It comes with instructions that need to be followed! Otherwise it's a crapshoot!! That is my opinion, of course your mechanic has the advantage of having the vehicle to look at!... Not arguing with any diagnosis here! Just *free* online advice!
Great! You know, its safe now and then be sorry later. I ordered an expansion valve and filter/drier from my local NAPA store. Quick question, what about the A/C Condensor? I have been getting a lot different answers about it. But another opinion won't hurt.
Suggest flushing it out... Follow compressor installation instructions.
Alright, thanks for the help!
