What is your question?
I have a 2010 Nissan Sentra with a CVT transmission. I did not know that a CVT transmission took a different type of oil, so I have been putting 5W-30 oil in my car when I am not able to get an oil change. I know I have added at least 3 quarts of 5W-30 oil to my car. I have noticed that the car makes different noises such as knocking when I turn the wheel, and it is hesitant to shift gears when I am changing from park to reverse or drive. Is there anything I can do to fix the damage I have done? Or is it too late?
What makes this problem better or worse?
Worse when I am parked on a hill or running low on fuel
How long has your 2010 Nissan Sentra had this problem?
few weeks

Hello, I am a little confused -- I think you are speaking of two different things? Certainly, the engine will take motor oil of that kind -- 5W-30. But you would of course never put that inside any transmission -- CVT or not. If you are indeed adding oil to your transmission, I would ask first: Why is it low? Second, if you are putting motor oil in the CVT, this is a major problem and damage may be already permanently done. Ensure you have all the oil flushed out of the CVT and have it filled with the proper Nissan CVT Transmission fluid. You may need to do this more than once. If it does not improve operation, damage is already done.
