What is your question?
I have a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder, I recently noticed the temp gauge increasing at idle, checked the fluids added coolant to overflow, and purchased a new radiator cap. No issues for several days, minimal driving, then I came out of the store to find a huge puddle under my car right under the overflow tank. I drove straight home and right when I pulled in the driveway the temp gauge shot up. No service lights ever came on, and there have been no other signs or issues that would pin point the cause. Understanding the numerous reasons this can occur, I can not afford to replace numerous parts, and unable to check all the boxes for water pump,or thermostat, drive belt etc I don't want to replace the water pump, when it was thermostat, then replace the thermostat, and be told it's the drive belt etc. With no warning lights,no OBD code, with no other issues,no idea. How can I avoid the high cost of process of elimination and feel confident the right part is being replaced? Certainly you must realize we can only make suggestions here online for it is impossible to determine the actual failure. Overheating at idle is indicative of insufficient air flow into the engine bay.. Check cooling fan.
