Fuel spilling out from under my car after fuel pump change

What is your question?

i had the fuel pump replaced in my 2009 Nissan Murano. When I filled it up with gasoline, the gas pump at the station did not shut off and gasoline spilled out from under my car. The gasoline didn't run out of the hole in the car where put the fuel pump handle in to fill up with gas.

What makes this problem better or worse?

I stron gasoline smelled remained in the car after the fuel pump was changed.
