I have had stiff steering at low speed, it was diagnosed at the local Nissan dealer as needing a new rack and pinion. I replaced the rack and pinion myself as well as the power steering pump just to be safe, and I still have the same problem. I was wondering if there is some part of the traction control systems that could be at fault causing this problem?

Check the remote mounted fluid reservoir to be sure it's clean and there are no fluid restrictions at all!.. Any noise from the pump? How much have you let it run or driven it??
Thanks for the reply. I flushed the entire system completely when installing the new rack and power steering pump, the fluid is very clean looking now. The hoses are in perfect condition with no visible restrictions. There is no noise from the pump. I have put on about 200 miles on it since the changeover. Is there a special fluid other than power steering fluid that I should be using?
The Stiff steering only occurs at low speeds when making a turn. I have tried putting the transmission in neutral and increasing engine speed to see if it helps and it does not. I feel like it is a break that grabs in the steering column, and when I jerk the wheel left then right it goes back to normal.
That sounds like a defective rack to me!!... Binding inside!!... Has a FULL scan test been performed?? It's possible that there's a problem with the steering angle sensor....
