Why do I have conflicting dashboard messages:

My check engine light has been on for two months. I also have a digital message that reads: "No warnings". Either one of them is incorrect or I am getting mixed messages about my vehicle. I do not trust the local Nissan dealership's service dept. Thanks for answering this if possible.
