What made my car go to Limp mode after driving for 15 minutes?

I was driving my 10 Nissan Altima for about 15 minutes when I come to a stop sign and started to take off and nothing! I turned the car off let it cool down and tried again the car went to limp mode is this my transmission or is this a solenoid if so what part do I need to order?
