SAE 5W-30 viscosity conventional oil is preferred for all temperatures in your car and is listed in your owners manual under specifications and capacities.
Even with 217.000 miles on it
*ESPECIALLY* with that many miles on it!! Synthetic oils do not cause any oil leaks - however any existing leaks will likely become more pronounced... Just use the conventional oil and change it regularly.
Well, you will get different opinions from lots of folks if you ask them the same question.I have a 98 Camry with 208,000 on the clock, and a 95 Tercel with 250,000 on the clock,a 91 Honda Accord with 300,000 on it and I run 5W30 Conventional Oil in all of them! The main thing is to keep the oil changed every 5000 or sooner(you will get different opinions on that also) my Honda Manual says change it every 7500 miles. Also check the oil like once a week or 2 weeks or when you fill it up(I do that)because most cars will use oil, even new ones, just keep the oil and the filter changed on a regular interval whether it's 3000 or 5000 miles! Now,about the Synthetic oil>I know a few folks that bought some cars that had always ran conventional oil and they decided to change to full synthetic oil,bad mistake for them, seals started leaking more on all of their cars! It's your car and you will have to decide what to run in it. good luck....
