Heater core leak. Can I keeping driving without using fan and heat?

Heating stopped working, fans blowing cooler air. Mechanic showed me a leak around left corner of the passenger side front seat floor and said the heater core is leaking. According to him it is a big job. Can I keep driving without using fan or heat? I didn't see any other leak, fluid level is ok and the temperature gauge is midway between C and H. Radiator was recently replaced and the two hoses connecting to engine are getting hot as well but no heat inside cabin. Please advise. Thanks

If you're going to drive it, disconnect the heater hose and get an adapter to tie the hoses together, called bypass. If you leave it could ruin your interior and other things if it gets worse, procrastination.
