my transmission only leaks when i am backing up. where is it leaking from

Yes and the torque convertor bushing. If they are bad the seals aren't going to help as much.

is that the proper name? (torque convetor bushing) or is it named something else. the auto part stores and the midtsubishi parts act like they don't know what i am talking about.

I know it's for the front pump bushing. For the torque converter.

so that bushing being bad could leak when you go in reverse?

If that's the place that's leaking.
