How well did it run BEFORE parts replacement? Same symptoms? Was the distributor moved?
I assume it ran ok before the work. And u don't need a compression test. Its more then likely the Idle control motor or IAC. This took the pplace of the old chokes. It ports air past the butterfly plate when at idle. It further opens when a load is put on (AC, or higher ampherage demand from the alternator. If you disconnected the battery it likely reset the BLM system. This system monitors air fuel ratios and adjusts for efficiency. You will have to "relearn" the system. Start the car, let it run with just enough pedal to keep it at 800 rpm or so. till it is warmed up. Ease off and see if it hold idle. If it does. Raise RPM to 2500-3000 for about a minute. After a while, let it off easy and see if it holds idel. If it does, Shut it off. wait a minute or two and repeat. If it still does, take it for a ride (about 40 miles or so to let the computer "relearn" This should fix it. If not. Remove IAC and clean out port. Also clean MAF sensor and start the process over again. A lot of Japanese cars need the wire sensor on the MAF cleaned regularly. About once a year when you change your auto trans fluid is probably sufficient. Change your auto trans fluid too (if you have an auto trans that is) Good luck.
