Flat towing a 08 Mini Cooper S with 6 speed, will I need to check the temperature?

Towing behind a Class A, with base plate and tow bar. Lot's of people do flat tow Minis, apparently. Everything I read says that its just put it in N, take off the brake and go. Someone mentioned that I need to check it every 100 miles to make sure the transmission isn't heating up, but that was their experience with a Honda. Forums I've checked don't mention it.
