I was able to pull into a parking lot and stop and shut the car off. I then re-started the car and the gas gauge was showing a full tank and I proceed to work, with no problem. So, what happened ?? This was the first time that I noticed this happening. There was no unusual noises to make you think something was gong wrong.

Two possibilties: The power to the fuel level sender has as intermittant short or partial break in the line which may need replaced or the fuel level sender(the "float") is beginning to fail and needs replaced. These issues won't hurt how the vehicle runs but will make it hard to tell how much fuel is in your tank in the future if it gets worse.
