What is your question?
Maybe you can help me with. I've got the new clutch installed in my mini and reinstalled the gear box to the engine. Before I put the sub-frame back in I thought I'd test the gear selections and see if my install is correct. I thought If I engaged a gear I should not be able to rotate the front disc due to the engine drag but they still rotate, what's your opinion, should the wheel disc rotate or not? I'm concerned my installation is bad.
So does this tell me anything about if the clutch is connected correctly, I'm just really trying to avoid putting the whole car back together and then finding out I messed up on the install. Thanks, I'll try tonight what you recommended and see what I can learn from that. John
Only confirms the transmission is engaged with the clutch and the clutch is holding at that time .. Only way to know if the clutch is actually working 'correctly' is by driving the vehicle! .. I was merely answering your posted question.
Hi Pushrod, I ran your recommended checks with a helper and all looks well and as you described. I did the other thing while running the checks, with he help of the second person I had them depress in the clutch pedal while in gear, I then rotated one of the brake rotors and confirmed that opposite side was not rotating, released the clutch and the opposite rotor rotated the opposite direction. I think this tells me the drive axles to gearbox to clutch are working correctly. Thanks very much for the help, I feel a little better now about putting everything back together, fingers crossed for the test drive! Much appreciate your help, John
Good luck with it!
