What is your question?
I'm looking for honest advice. I have a 2001 Mercury Villager v-6 van....loaded. It has new tires and it's near mint condition. It has 240,000 miiles and I got it from a Monastery only which Nuns and Priests drove it, on the grounds of the Monastery. It occasionally made a trip to the airport otherwise it was driven on the grounds. I have every single service record from oil changes to tire rotation.....they took care it. It makes a high pitch sound when trying to start. It just quit on the freeway.....thinking timing belt. I had a Nissan Quest that did the same....had non interference engine so it was an easy fix..about $400. Same goes for this Mercury. So question is....is it worth it and how much should I be willing to spend. This van still has the plastic around the tv console and the inside is brand new other than a little wear on the driver's seat. I should add It could be something electrical as well. I'm really partial to this vehicle because it's been so dependable. Thank you!
How long has your 2001 Mercury Villager had this problem?
Over a year. It's been sitting

Fix it .... Especially since it suits you! Cost a BUNCH to purchase another vehicle. *Hands-on* testing will be required to determine actual failure - until the repairs exceed what the vehicle is worth to YOU fix it!
BTW - 240,000 miles is a bunch of trips around the Monastery grounds .... Just saying.
