Recently, My Car Wouldn't Start and So I Replaced Ignition Cylinder (it would spin around) but Car Still Wouldn't Start. Replaced Battery without Success and Had My Car Looked at. Ended Up Being the Starter. Car Ran Fine for About a Month and a Half Then Upon Returning Home Late One Night....car Would Not Turn Off. Thought Maybe the Problem Was In the Ignition Cylinder Cuz When I Turned the Key to Off position It Stays On. Having to Get Out and Pull the wire and fuse Is Starting to Be a Pain and I Don't Want to short Something Out. What Should I Be Looking at First Here and What Are the Likely Causes? Thanks!
Thank You For Responding. No. Not Really. If the Driver's Door is Open (9/10 times) When I Put the Fuse In.....a Dinging (key left in ignition cylinder indicator) Starts. I Shod Mention That Before I Replaced the Ignition Cylinder the First Time, the Wing Part Had a Lot of Play and Would Spin Freely to Where I. Had to Jiggle the Key Back and Forth to Get the Key Out. Which Often Times Would Cause That Same Dinging When I Would Open the Door to Get Out. Do You Think That It Is Possible That Some Part Broke Off In the Actuator? I Had a Friend Look At It and He Told Me That I Need to Replace the Entire Steering Column. Can't I Just Switch Out The Ignition Cylinder LOCK ASSEMBLY HOUSING CaSING or Whatever It Is Called? Thank You For Your Time and Correspondence on This Matter. :)
Remove and inspect lock cyl to see if tab on back side has broken off... IF not... Get some hands-on help!
