1993 mercury sable LS gas indicator is off I fill it up all the way and by the halfway mark its empty. Is this an cheap or expensive fix? Also, same price questions for adding carseat anchors to this model and year with carseat kits in my possession.
How long has your 1993 Mercury Sable had this problem?
Since purchase from a family member

More than likely the sender(float arm switch) is bad, part of the in tank fuel pump module assembly. parts stores do sell the sender alone, but if the fuel pump has been in it a long time then just buy the whole module assembly. either way,the tank has to be dropped to do this job! there are two different ones that will fit your car, depending if it has a 16 gal tank or an 18.6 gal tank.if you do have the digital cluster or digital gas gauge, then you most likely have an 18.6 gal fuel tank.if a shop does this, then maybe around $500.00 and this could vary? if you do it,then less than $100.00,or just live with it,the fuel pump is working, just keep track of your miles using the trip odometer and fill up when needed(meaning if you get 300 miles per tank, then go fill up,reset trip to 0,when you put 250 miles on it,go fill up again, set trip to 0,repeat) . it's up to you..go to RockAuto.com for the BEST price from anywhere!
