More than likely failed low /reverse band.. Knowledgeable mechanic can quickly determine while test driving and checking for presence of manual low. Simple but it is a very reliable test.

No reverse is caused by an internal ‘mechanical’ failure - there is no external quick fix. Transmission removal required.
