First.... What do you know about a transfer case shift motor...do you know what it is?
We had this problem with our 99 dodge the switch was on the dash, just wondering have you tried the old school way to get it out. We tried it over and over again till it piped out then we unplugged it so it wouldnt throw itself back in 4hi. It's would a try put it I. N then push button then R start going backward make sure you have a long road to do it in. TheN put it back in N push button off then D if that doesn't work have to do it a few times. It took us a few times to get it to go back to normal. Good luck.
Yes I do
With key on, engine off... Have helper actuate 4hi while you tap lightly on shift motor with SMALL hammer or the like.. Suspect stuck motor armature.
