Why does my car have a constant "dinging"noise after a rain?

What is your question?

Every time it rains, my car has a constant "dinging" noise, similar to the warning "ding" that you hear when you accidentally leave the headlights on.

What makes this problem better or worse?

It is worse after a rain.

How long has your 1999 Mercury Cougar had this problem?

Not exactly sure, months and monrhs.

Could be a short somewhere. There shouldn't normally be a noise like this after rain. Hands-on inspection of the wiring is needed. If you need a shop for this, use this link to find a shop near you. Alex

Spraying BUNCHES of silicone spray or WD-40 into ALL door latches may help .. Not only for lubrication but waterproofing as well..
