SEE other post , most likely shifter assembly , if I remember that symptom from one I dealt with awhile back. NEED correct scanner to properly monitor and verify , though. Electrical in nature either way , I doubt it's an internal mechanical failure.
thank you for that ,it almost seems like a fail safe device that's over reacting, but i tend to hope and agree with that's its electrical due to the fact that when the computer reboots it goes back to normal, however i don't have to be shifting for the problem to occur.Any significant acceleration and then letting off the gas causes it ,seems less sensitive if i am actually in a lower gear although the going into neutral problem will still and ultimately occur. It a nightmare going to my local dealer ,that whole philosophy about being able to afford this car gives the dealer the right to take you to the bank for all repairs, Whats scary is that this site is recommending good year auto.any thing on this car other than maybe an oil change at a place like that in my opinion is a complete waste of time. i know full blown auto mechanics that want nothing to do with this vehicle!!
Shift assembly has electronic controls in it that can cause this symptom , i think.
Take vehicle to a qualified transmission shop and get it tested!.. No use guessing at what it COULD BE!
We see twin turbo v12 benzes all the time. I have never seen this issue caused by shifter assy. The shifter on your vehicle is a mechanical shifter. I would suspect internal transmission issue due to failed clutch packs. How many miles on the vehicle?
There are 38,000 miles on this vehicle thank you for your reply it sounds to me like it's going to be very expensive to fix and my correct in assuming that. How would a problem like that be able to correct itself just by restarting the car
I would get codes read first. Most likely gear mismatch codes. Second, I would take a sample of the transmission fluid. If it looks and smells like burnt fluid, you have your answer. If I remember correctly, Mercedes offered rebuilt transmissions for 3k. We do ours in house.
Okay thanks I wish you were closer the dealer I use is going to enjoy this, Haven't found anybody around me in New York other than the dealer that knows how to fix this car with any honesty
Unfortunately, all v12 benzes come with their host of issues as they get older. Especially ABC suspension, transmissions and Coilpacks. We see so many v12 benzes, we keep coil packs in stock.
Again thank you for speaking to me about my car I really appreciate it had I known these problems were going to surface I would have sold the car a while back now I'm stuck between having to get over on somebody through a sale which is not my style or fixing the car for a lot of money I really do love the car but they cost so much damn money to fix

I don't think this vehicle was ever offered with manual transmission, I wish it was!
