What are the color wires connections going to the stop lamp switch 2000 ml430

What is your question?

I have a 2000 ml430. I had a friend assist installing a tow package wire harness. Sounds simple. Was pretty simple except I forgot to also install a inline fuse to the harness. I no longer have brake lights . I have replaced bulbs, sockets ,and fuses/ fusible links. I have chased it down to the green wire on the 3 wire connector to the stop lamp switch. What does the green wire go to ? I am getting burned out on researching this with no explanation.
