Told car had defective caliper when 1 pad was below2mm and the other 3 at 8-10mm

What is your question?

This diagnosis was by an independent brake specialist after the 'check brake pad' light came on; went to dealership (as still under warranty) & told it's not defective, I just need new front pads & routers. I'm confused as to why only 1 pad would wear;they had no answer for that. I was told by another specialist that although it's rare, it's possible the slide pins (caliper's carriage)could be the culprit in rare circumstances. The worn pad is on the inside right front brake. Please help me settle this mystery!

Hi, This is actually very common in Mercedes Benz Brakes, I see this all the time. There is nothing wrong with the brake components, I would follow the Dealership's advise and change the Brake Pads & Rotors. Also make sure you have had a Brake Fluid Flush in the past 2 years, if not this would be highly recommended. Drive Safe. Thanks for posting. Sam Boca-Star Services & Repairs, Inc. 561-237-5700

I would change the brake hose on that side ,when the rubber wears inside it make a 1 way valve inside it , I think its not shot but it could Be making that caliper lazy to release ,it could be defective...

WOW! Thank you... will check it out! "don't know" (from the dealer) is not an acceptable answer to me.

Just a thought from a lowly Honda 'tech' (I use that phrase loosely) , but I run into that scene a lot on Accords and civics with people that commute in a lot of stop & go traffic and make aggressive left turns during the commute (same on left inner , with aggressive right turns). Have verified this with the owners /drivers of the cars. I would think that you would not need rotors though , unless your pad wore to the metal.

No thought is lowly in my book... thanks for your interest! I am retired and do not drive aggressively but will consider this when I make right turns....
