Stalled out buy it self going down road will not restart it just turns over

Does it sound like the engine is trying to start and spins real fast? If so, could be timing belt.

Check for ignition spark from spark plug wire(s)... OR ... IF COP ,coil on plug, type ignition, pull out coil(s) and check for spark.... IF spark is present, I too suspect timing belt!... Compression test is next step... May be able to tell if camshaft is turning while helper cranks engine... YOU CANNOT SEE THE TIMING BELT!!!!!... It's inside the engine front cover!

this has happen to my wive mazda i had changed the timing belt and water pump put new plug and wires it fired right up with a touch of the key it ran great for 15 minutes or so then i just died and wouldnt refire it sounded like it wanted to but it wouldnt i personally think it is either a crack in the valve cover or the crank shaft censor. the same thing happend to my truck and the crank shaft censor had a hair line crack once the engine hit running temp it would shut of and not start again until the engine cooled down and the crack would make a connection again im going to try the censor and inspect the valve cover for any cracks or the gasket might be bad. it is 15 years old after all
