RPM's in Park can't come off idle (600-800rpm)? Could be plugged exhaust. How does the engine sound when you step on the accelerator pedal? What happens when you "floor it"?

If it starts misfiring, it could be a fuel restriction of some sort (fuel pump, filter, regulator) or an input sensor like the cam or crank. It's hard to tell with what you describe.
