Car dies when put into gear

Check for broken engine mounts and broken/torn air intake boot between mass air flow and throttle body. Easy check-- with parking brake firmly engaged , have someone in the car put it in gear while you watch the engine jump and open up the crack in the air intake hose (that is if I'm guessing right!)
