How long does it take to remove and replace the PVC Hose?

What is your question?

I want to know how long, according to the book (which book, I don't know) it should take a certified mechanic to replace the PVC Hose, and how long it should take a first time mechanic (me). Thank you.

I'll assume you mean the PCV breather hose and elbows. About 30 minutes. For you, no more than an hour. thank you. The pic you linked is the same one I found in the recall notice for that part, August 2004. The Mazda dealership told us it would take them 2.3 hours labor. I cannot understand why they want remove the intake manifold (or intake ______). I am going to take back the Van and go for it tomorrow.

Depends if they are removing the entire hose from one end to the other. If so, the intake does make reaching the other end quite difficult without removal. In the pic it shows an elbow connection at the top. If this part is the one that failed.....30 min to 1 hour is all that is needed. If at the PCV valve itself, then the manifold must come off. GOOD LUCK! Dealers are a last resort.....service garages are always a much cheaper and time efficient way to go.
