1997 Mazda Mpv-- is this my cabin filter?

I took my dashboard off to install a stereo and found a filter behind the glovebox. I'm assuming it's the cabin filter. It is NOT just a pop in and out thing. You have to take the whole part apart as it's encased into it. It's attached to some levers and such.......I can't find any schematics on how to remove it or how to take the thing apart. It's just black foam and literally disolves when touched.
