Dealer can't fix stalling on hard braking after two trys. a different shop thinks it's an idle motor issue for about $800 to try and not be sure. I saw your note on google and others talking about infamous idle air control problems-same part ?
What is your question?
would either cause diming of headlights with rough idle noise and with more load i.e.heater?
no engine size in question.4 cyl iac valve is : $220.99...6 cyl is 302.99..kinda of a big mark up from the shop, looks like!!!if you gonna just put it on anyways, then do it yourself, couple of screws, 1 electrical connector.save 4 or 5 hundred bucks, and don't go back to that shop.i know they have to eat,but not Fillet 3 times a day.
Thanks for your reply. Yes I saw about $300 for 6 cyl, but I'm being sold a Mazda OEM and 2 hours of labor for $180. Unfortunately he dosen't guarantee it'll fix problem. I refuse to go back to dealer and pay them another cent.I called Mazda corp. said they might give me a break if I went back, that ain't happening. Last money I'll put into it (I said that before). Know of a good reliable car for a short person need good site lines and to be able to see over the hood and have seats with good support and multi adjustable settings for my back injuries?$ 20,000-28,000 automatic trans. that's a very good price! you can't get the part for that price,$180.00 total, counting labor?i would tell mechanic to save the part he takes off,and what brand part is he using to put back on? post findings.good luck.
Thanks again for reply.Sorry for confusion, the labor is $180 for two hours and the OEM Mazda part is bet. $500-$600.Since I won't go back to Mazda and at least this guy has worked on Mazda's this is an expensive last ditch effort to keep car safe to use till I shop for a new one. Unfortunately with my bum luck with this car there's a good chance it won't solve problem. I'll ask for part back so it could be put back, but he can't return part to Mazda I can't see him eating the cost. Tomorrow I'll find out.

Thank you for your support and well wishes, nice to get from a posting. Have bad luck and news, fix didn.t work still have same bad brake/stalling repeated by garage test drive,no grudge against shop,he gave his opinion and warned no guarantee. He at least said he had replicated issue while doing road test, dealer never said that. Modern cars-baaa humbug! I say bring back the Model T-with some improvements-like airbags, heat, a/c,nice sound system and most important-a motor that can be repaired !
I see a lot of visits and test drives in my immediate future and saying bye bye to my first and last Mazda.
