When I put starter on it touches flexplate

I put a new one on and it still touches

Wrong starter ‘application’ for the engine - OR - starter incorrectly installed.. I see the engine has been replaced - is it possible the *flywheel* was installed incorrectly?

I never touched the flywheel but that’s the only thing it can be cause starter has dowel pins to guide it I got motor from salvage yard
