Today, While replacing the bearings in the wheel hub assembly of my mazda 5 (due to the horrible shaking that occurs in the car at speeds over 35mph). I found I needed (due to my own error) to replace my cv axle also - stripped threads. I have purchased the part, but it wont install into the transmission driveline with the clip in place. Can I install the axle without it?

NO!... Then it won't stay in place.... Put the big nut on it flush with the end so you can tap on it with a hammer and won't ruin the threads again!.. Carefully start axle in trans... Push on axle and hit the big nut/axle with a hammer to help seat axle... You'll feel it when it goes into place.. A 'dead blow' hammer is what you should use to do this!
