it's not the A/C doing this. it's the blower motor resistor, it's burnt and needs replaced..when this happens, the blower motor defaults to high speed only.
why would it do this? is this expensive? do you recommend a certain place that I take it? Thanks for the information.
they just get very hot and burn, happens all the time on all makes, models, years. this is how you get different speeds,RESISTOR>>SLOWS THE BLOWER MOTOR DOWN TO DIFFERENT SPEEDS LIKE,LOW,MED,MED HIGH,then when it's on high,it's does not have any resistance so the blower motor runs on high speed..if you took a new blower motor or a used one and just hooked 2 wires to the motor connector, plus and minus,it has only 1 speed(HIGH)...the resistor is what slows it down to different speeds.easy to change, you can do this yourself! there are several different ones from $19.99-$64.99 depending if Automatic or Manual Temperature Control,or 119" wheelbase or 131" wheel base?? only a couple screws and 1 electrical plug...
Thank you so much for this information. I really appreciate it.
you're welcome...
