The overdrive off light wont come on in my 2009 Lincoln MKZ.

When I start the car, all lights temporarily light, as they should, except for the o/d off light. The tranny shifts real good, although I noticed a mild thump when downshifting, and that is occasionaly, and dependant on speed. between 2nd and 1rst(I think). I am having the tranny fluid changed in a couple of weeks. It is dirty. I am new to this brand of vehicle, and to o/d off switches. Could it be the panel light itself? Is there a fuse I can check? Will this show a code if I went and got an OBDII scanner? Thanks for the help!
